PRAYERS FOR PROTECTIONJuly 19, 2009 on 12:25 pm | In Blog entries | Comments OffI don’t know about you, but I often get emails with prayers attached that are supposed to be the “perfect prayer” for this or that. You know the ones. They come with a note saying “pray this prayer for a week and pass it on. It really works”. I guess in truth they do “really work” but not because we “pass them on”. Matthew 21:22 says “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 7:7-8 ”Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” From simple whispered words from the heart, pleading cries, or anywhere in between, our God hears us, if we are sincere, and at anytime and anywhere. Our God is the God of all ages: Isaiah 30:19 (KJV) There is no one formulated prayer for protection but we can all pray them. Whether it be for ourselves or others. Our God is a merciful God. Psalms 121:7-8 May God protect each one of us and keep us all in His care. Amen. © Chrissy Siggee Scripture Verses used are from the King James Version of the Bible
CALL ON ME!July 12, 2009 on 12:11 pm | In Blog entries | Comments OffJeremiah 33:3 (KJV) To call on His name is nothing unusual. I’m sure we all do it from time to time: perhaps even often. So what does this verse really say? I believe God has given to us a very precious gift – prayer. There should be nothing more important to a Christian than to develop a regular prayer routine and a closer relationship with the Father. Faith can only grow through prayer, and the study of His Word, and they go hand-in-hand as we develop a relationship with Him. With all the circumstances that we face every day—our jobs, parenting, studies, relationships— there’s nothing more important than our time in prayer. There’s nothing that we can do without prayer. I know that without prayer, I couldn’t function and I would very quickly head down a path of disobedience and misplaced direction. Prayer increases my faith, and my trust in God. He’s my friend and my Saviour. He’s my Father and my healer; a refuge in time of trouble. (Psalm 9:9)Prayer is my communion with God. It’s my spiritual nourishment and my provision in all things for my day-to-day life. Can we have a trusting relationship with someone we do not know? I know I can’t. Do you need to reassess your prayer life? If your answer is yes, then “call on the name of the Lord” and He will answer. Make prayer a regular part of your daily life and trust in Him.

GROWTH IN GRACEJuly 5, 2009 on 1:39 pm | In Blog entries | Comments OffHebrews 5:12-15 Norm and I don’t have the opportunity to visit our grandchildren as much as we would like but with the power of technology, we had the enjoyable pleasure of spending time seeing and chatting with them with the use of our webcam. How they have grown in a few short months! Babies are a delight but how sad it would be if, in ten years’ time, they were still babies. Likewise, it’s great to see a church full of young Christians and it’s exciting to see them grow and mature in His grace. We need to keep encouraging the young Christians to grow. We need to stress the basics of the gospel, which is salvation through the death and resurrection of Christ and by God’s grace we are saved, not with payment or cause. However, there is a lot more to learn in God’s word beside the basics, and it’s sad when someone who has been a Christian for a long time knows nothing but the simple gospel. They need to be able to overcome the spiritual attacks that try to pull their faith from them. College, work associates and unbelieving families can all easily influence the young Christians away from the grace that has saved them. Even older Christians need to grow. We can never outgrow the need to grow. The writer of Hebrews tells us that we need to remain in His truth: Hebrews 10:25-27 Father, help us to continue in your word that we may grow in truth and wisdom. Teach us how to stand firm in our faith as we grow and learn in your grace. Amen. © Chrissy Siggee Scripture Verses used are from the King James Version of the Bible
